The very first piano I played was at Edward's, my grandfather's house. He was the head deacon at my home church in Greenwood, SC (Bethlehem) and he was the superintendent of Sunday School. Some weekends my parents would allow me to spend the night with my grandparents. I would get up early and eat grits and corn beef hash that my grandmother cooked. We had to be the ones to open the church for Sunday School.
He always loved when I played the piano in church and was so proud when I wanted to play for choirs at my church. I miss him because since summer 2019 he has only been a memory.
So I dedicate this hymnbook piano album volume 1 to him because he believed in me to be the man I am today.
"I love you granddad, and this one is dedicated to you, hope you are proud. Thank you for all the lessons small and great, all the rides in the classic '64 chevy, all the stories, every time you would explain you have 13 brothers and 3 sisters, and for being the example of a good and faithful servant. Enter the joys of the Lord. I love you- BIG BOY (tears) :). "
